Tehran (IP) - Iran's President says Switzerland and the European Union are expected to be able to maintain their independent role in the new era against US unilateralist policies.

Iran PressIran news: In a meeting held on Monday morning for receiving the credential of the new Swiss Ambassador to Tehran Christian Dussey, Ebrahim Raisi said that the relations between the two countries have always been friendly, adding: "Switzerland has always played a positive role in maintaining and promoting peace, and it is expected to be able to maintain its independent role in the new era against US unilateralist policies."

Raisi received the credentials of the new ambassadors of Switzerland, Finland, Belgium, Kyrgyzstan, Cyprus and Azerbaijan Republic.

The new Swiss ambassador to Tehran also said in the meeting that Iran is a country with an ancient and brilliant civilization, adding: "Iran and Switzerland have had good relations in the political, cultural, economic and scientific fields for more than a hundred years."

He expressed hope that the conditions would be set for the activities of Swiss companies and economic activists in Iran.

Switzerland has had a consulate in Tehran since 1919, which was raised to the status of the embassy in 1936.

In the last few decades, especially after the 1979 revolution in Iran, Iran's relations with the Swiss Confederation have been friendly and based on mutual respect.

In the absence of diplomatic or consular relations of the United States of America with the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Swiss government, acting through its Embassy in Tehran, serves as the Protecting Power of the USA in Iran since 21 May 1980. The Swiss Embassy's Foreign Interests Section provides consular services to US citizens living in or traveling to Iran.

It also represents the interests of Saudi Arabia in Tehran.

Switzerland has also represented Iran in Canada, Israel, and Saudi Arabia.

Speaking on Monday morning while receiving the credentials of the new Finnish Ambassador to Iran Kari Kahiluoto, Ebrahim Raisi said: "We hope to see good and brilliant relations between the two countries during your mission."

"We hope that the European Union and European countries will be able to work on the path to strategic independence and separate themselves from US expansionist policies, because US unilateralism is not in the best interests of the world," he said.

Emphasizing the need for Europe to adhere to its commitments to Iran, the President said to the new Finnish Ambassador: "We hope to see the expansion of Iran-Finland relations while we are approaching the 90th anniversary of relations between the two countries and during your mission."

The new ambassador of Finland to the Islamic Republic of Iran also said during the meeting: "Diplomatic relations between the two countries have always been good, and in December this year, these relations will become 90 years old."

The new Finnish ambassador described Iran as one of the key actors in the region and expressed the desire to cooperate with Iran in resolving regional issues such as Afghanistan, saying: "Finland has had good investments in Iran in the past and we want to return to that level of relations now.”

We should not allow outsiders influence these relations

Speaking after receiving the credentials of the new Belgian ambassador Gianmarco Rizzo, Ebrahim Raisi referred to the history of friendly relations between the two countries, adding, "Iran is interested in expanding cooperation with Belgium and Europe in the economic and trade fields, but we should not allow outsiders influence these relations."

Stating that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always adhered to its obligations, Raisi said: "In spite of this fact, European countries did not fulfil their obligations in the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). European countries, whether regarding the deal or in other matters, should not act in such a way that the United States feels that Europe is its sphere of influence.”

The President said: "The United States seeks to develop and impose its oppressive will in the world, but other countries should not allow American unilateralism and encroachment continue in different parts of the world”.

In the same meeting, the new Belgian ambassador to Tehran said: "We hope that with the expansion of economic relations, the relations between Tehran and Brussels will be further strengthened.”

Iran's President, who received the credentials of New Kyrgyzstan's ambassador to Tehran Turdakun Sydykov, said: "Regarding the membership of the two countries in the several regional organizations such as Economic Cooperation Organization or ECO and The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), There are Proper ground for cementing bilateral cooperation in the field of and Commerce and transit."

President Raisi said that the two countries could design a new program to improve relations, adding that constructive cooperation between Iran and Kyrgyzstan could improve the level of interaction in regional and international organizations.

The new Kyrgyz ambassador to Tehran, Turdakun Sydykov also congratulated Iran on the start of its permanent membership in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, saying that Iran's presence as a key member of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization could pave the way for further expansion of Tehran-Bishkek relations.

He considered trade and trade relations, joint ventures and transit as the most important capacities available for expanding the interactions between the two countries and said: "The 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations is a good opportunity to design solutions for expanding relations between the two countries in various fields."

Iran-Cyprus relations in economic, trade fields can deepen

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi said that relations between Iran and Cyprus were at a stage that could be increased in the economic and trade fields.

Receiving the credentials of Andreas Kouzoupis, the new Ambassador of Cyprus, President Ebrahim Raisi said: "I hope that with your experience and knowledge, the relations between the two countries will develop at the end of your mission."

"Relations between the two countries are at a stage that can increase in the economic and trade fields, and I hope these relations will reach an acceptable level," the president said.

The new ambassador also noted that he had previously served as Cypriot ambassador to Iran, adding: “There is a great potential for increasing relations between the two countries in the economic and trade fields, which can strengthen relations.”

Ali Alizadeh, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Iran, presented his credentials to Iran's President.
