Iran Press/Iran news: Saeed Khatibzadeh, the spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said anti-Iranian allegations made by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev "only in the interests of the Zionist regime to affect the relations between Iran and Azerbaijan."
Emphasizing the leading role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the fight against drug trafficking, Khatibzadeh stressed: "Dedication of thousands of martyrs and wounded over the past four decades in the fight against drug trafficking is just one page of the committed and continuous efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran in this direction, which international institutions have repeatedly endorsed."
Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman said that "despite the private and positive messages received from Baku, there is an intention for the Republic of Azerbaijan to make baseless media statements, which, of course, will be answered appropriately."
In a virtual meeting with the CIS head of states, Ilham Aliev claimed that Armenia, in collusion with Iran, used the formerly occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan to smuggle drugs into Europe for about 30 years.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also rejected these allegations and stressed Iran-Armenia cooperation in fighting narcotics.
Following the liberation of the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, unpleasant events have occurred in the South Caucasus region. Among them are the Israeli movements in the South Caucasus and the parts of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
On Monday, 04 October, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, in his weekly news presser, pointing to the Zionist Regime's movement against Iran on Azerbaijan's soil, stressed that Azerbaijan had been warned in this regard.
"It is crystal clear that Azerbaijan's soli must not be abused for third parties," Khatibzadeh noted and stressed that "Iran can and will defend its security and territories."
In the aftermath of development in the Nagorno-Karabakh war, taking advantage of the current events, the Israeli regime, by seizing control of some parts of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has made a redoubled effort to get as close as possible to the borders of Iran.
Also, in October, some protesters attacked the Iranian embassy in Baku.
The attack on the Iranian embassy came after the recent interview of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev with a News Agency. In that interview, he claimed that Iranian trucks had entered the Nagorno-Karabakh region illegally.

Amir-Abdullahian also called the negative and anti-Iranian remarks of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev surprising and unfortunate.
In this meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister considered the military exercises of the countries inside its territories within the framework of the right of national sovereignty and, referring to the movements of the Israeli regime along the shared borders of Iran, stated: "The Islamic Republic of Iran does not tolerate the presence and activities of the Zionist regime against its national security and will take any necessary action in this regard."
In a telephone conversation with his Azerbaijani counterpart on Tuesday, the Iranian Foreign Minister stated that the two countries should prevent misunderstandings in mutual relations and that they should continue their links on the right and growth path.
