Gorgan (IP): The head of the National Disaster Management Organization of Iran stressed that safeguarding all the forests and pastures is necessary and all the organizations should cooperate together at the time of crises and natural disaster occurrences.

Iran PressIran News: The head of the National Disaster Management Organization (NDMO) of Iran said that according to the law of the organization and relevant Article 14, the responsibility of the executive bodies to prevent the occurrence of crisis has been determined.

In an exclusive interview with IranPress in Gorgan Province (northeastern of the country) on Saturday, Esmael Najjar stated that the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad is responsible for protecting forests and pastures in order to prevent crises such as fires in the Derazno Kordkuy forest Zone in Golestan province.

The head of the National Disaster Management Organization of Iran noted that the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad cooperates with the armed forces in crisis situations such as fires in forests and pastures, and the provincial headquarters of the National Disaster Management Organization is responsible for coordination.

Esmael Najjar, stating that Iran is almost poor in terms of forestry and pastures, stressed that all institutions should work to preserve forests and rangelands in Iran.

He stated that, according to studies, the cause of more than 90% of fires in forests and pastures is humans, and this human factor is partly intentional and partly accidental.

Najjar stressed that increasing public awareness and continuous monitoring of forests and pastures has a very important role in preventing fires in these areas.
