Baghdad (IP): Following the departure of Shia's most influential cleric of Iraq Muhammad Saeed al-Hakim, the Muslim world was engulfed with sadness and sorrow.

Iran PressMiddle East:  According to news sources, Muhammad Saeed al-Hakim died at the Al Hayat hospital in the southern holy city of Najaf on Friday where he was taken after suffering a sudden heart attack. His office announced that he died of a sudden medical condition.

The Iraqi Prime Minister announced public mourning in the country on Saturday on the occasion of the death of Ayatollah "Seyyed Muhammad Saeed Hakim".

Luay al-Yassiry the governor of Najaf also declared three days of public mourning in the province due to the demise of this grand Marja.

Following the departure of the great Shia's most influential cleric, the officials of the Muslim world including Iran's high-ranking political characters reacted to the sad event by extending their messages of condolences over the loss of Grand Ayatollah Sayyed Mohammed Saeed Al-Hakim.

In a message of condolences on the demise of Ayatollah Seyyed Muhammad Saeed Hakim, Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi described the great Islamic scholar as the creator of the rich heritage of thought, knowledge, and science.

In a separate message, the Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian expressed his condolences on the demise of Ayatollah Muhammad Saeed Hakim.

The text of the message of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran reads: "The pass away of the supreme authority, Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Muhammad Saeed Tabatabai Hakim, caused deep regret and impression."

The Iranian Foreign Minister has stated in his message that his scientific efforts and practical endeavors, left a valuable legacy and capital for the Islamic world.
