Baghdad (IP) - Iranian foreign minister held a joint meeting with Iran's ambassador to Iraq as well as the members of the Iranian missions and other Iranian institutes in Iraq.

Iran PressMiddle East: Being on a state visit to Iraq, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Sunday discussed Iran and Iraq ties in a joint meeting with Iran's Ambassador to Iraq, Iraj Masjedi, Consul-Generals, the managers of the institutes, and the other members of Iran's missions, which was held in Iran's embassy in Iraq.

Emphasizing the role of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and other martyrs of the resistance, including Abu Mahdi Al-Muhandis, the Iranian Foreign Minister described the depth of relations between Iran and Iraq and the formation of governmental and popular relations between them based on deep religious and civilizational foundations.

Referring to various areas of relations, the top Iranian diplomat stressed the need to develop relations.

During his first foreign trip, Amir-Abdollahian traveled to Iraq on Saturday to attend the Baghdad Summit for Regional Cooperation.

The summit, held in the heavily guarded Green Zone, ended with the agreement of participating countries to unify efforts to stabilize the region.
