Baghdad (IP) - Baghdad summit kicked off with heads of state and foreign ministers of regional and some western countries in attendance, including Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian.

Iran PressMiddle East: Baghdad summit has kicked off with the speech by the Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al Kazemi on Saturday afternoon.

The summit will continue until tomorrow with the participation of delegations and leaders from Iran, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Turkey, and Egypt, etc.

Representatives from France, the United States, Russia, and Japan have also been invited to the summit.

French President Emmanuel Macron is among the leaders to attend the regional summit.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran arrived in Baghdad on Saturday.

Hossein Amirabdollahian was welcomed at Baghdad Airport by Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein, Iraqi officials, and the Iranian Ambassador to Baghdad Iraj Masjedi.

Among the leaders, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan's King Abdullah II are attending the summit, while Iran and Saudi Arabia have sent delegations with their foreign ministers at the head. 

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and Saudi Arabia's top diplomat Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud are heading their respective countries.
