Tehran (IP) - Iran's foreign minister stated that the United States and NATO had failed to achieve their goals in Afghanistan.

Iran PressIran news: On Wednesday, Mohammad-Javad Zarif noted in his Twitter account: "For all their talk of democracy and War on Terror, events in Afghanistan and statements by US and NATO officials prove: They invaded and occupied Afghanistan and elsewhere ONLY to pursue their own interests—but couldn't even achieve that."

"US/NATO now have clear obligation to compensate," he added.

The Taliban group is poised to run Afghanistan again 20 years after the US invaded Afghanistan in October 2001 and removed the Taliban from power. American forces occupied the country for about 20 years on the pretext of fighting against the Taliban. But as the US forces left Afghanistan, the Taliban stormed into Kabul, weakened by foreign occupation.
