Russia's Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov

Russia's Foreign Minister blamed the hasty withdrawal of the United States and NATO from Afghanistan for the current situation in the country.

Iran PressEurope: Sergei Lavrov said today (Tuesday) that the current situation in Afghanistan requires cooperation between Russia and the West.

"The hasty withdrawal of US and NATO troops from Afghanistan has disturbed the situation in the country," he added.

"Russia will not cooperate with terrorist groups in Afghanistan," the Russian diplomat said.

Lavrov also stressed that the Taliban had announced its readiness to form a government with the participation of representatives of other political parties.
