Iran Press/ Iran news: The Iranian Parliament Speaker's Special Aide for International Affairs and President Ebrahim Raisi's proposed foreign minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and China's Special Representative for Afghanistan Yue Xiao Yong met on Wednesday, discussing bilateral relations and recent developments in Afghanistan.
Yue Xiao Yong said this is his first visit to the region, which coincided with an important and historic time in Afghanistan.
Amir-Abdollahian also slammed the White House's policies in the region, including Afghanistan, and drew attention to the role of the Afghan people in the fate of their country and the formation of an inclusive government consisting of all groups.
He said the Afghan people had proven throughout history that they would never tolerate foreign occupation and domination.
Underlining the strategic nature of Iran-China relations, he stated that Tehran and Beijing could cooperate at different levels in Afghanistan.
The two sides also stressed the need to maintain territorial integrity, independence, peace and lasting stability, the non-existence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan, the formation of an inclusive government with all Afghan groups, and good relations with Afghanistan's neighbors.
The Taliban group is poised to run Afghanistan again 20 years after the US invaded Afghanistan in October 2001 and removed the Taliban from power. American forces occupied the country for about 20 years on the pretext of fighting against the Taliban. But as the US forces left Afghanistan, the Taliban stormed into Kabul, weakened by foreign occupation.
