Iraq bid to hold a bilateral meeting between Iran, Saudi Arabia in Baghdad

Iraqi officials are planning to hold a bilateral meeting between Saudi Arabia and Iran on the sidelines of a conference on regional security in Baghdad.

Iran PressMiddle East: The conference is scheduled to be held in Baghdad with Saudi Arabia, Iran, Turkey, the UAE, Qatar, Egypt, and Jordan, and Iraq is working to bring these countries closer together in terms of common goals.

French President Emmanuel Macron is also expected to attend the Baghdad conference, Al-Mayadeen reported.

Referring to Iraq's efforts to hold a bilateral meeting between Saudi Arabia and Iran on the sidelines of the conference, Al-Mayadeen stressed that Baghdad is working to restore relations between Tehran and Riyadh following bilateral and closed meetings between the two sides.

In May, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh announced Tehran's readiness to hold talks with Riyadh, and the issue was confirmed by the government Spokesman Ali Rabiei as well.
