Tehran (IP)- A member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Committee says the US is seeking a lame excuse to return to Afghanistan

Iran PressIran news: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Monday, Shahriar Heydari said that to procure security, the US occupied Afghanistan for many years, but the Afghan nation never experienced security.

Heydari said: "The US has announced that it has created security in Afghanistan and intends to withdraw, but as soon as it intends to leave, the Taliban and the Afghan government have clashed, and most part of country's territory is occupied by the Taliban."

The parliamentarian told the IP correspondent that the US had launched attacks against the Taliban to balance power between the group and the Afghan government.

He noted that if the US had really cared about Afghanistan's peace and security, it would have recognized the Taliban as part of the Afghan country and society.

"The US does not intend to create security in Afghanistan but rather seeks insecurity; the US also wants the presence of the Taliban to be fixed in Afghanistan. It is better for the Taliban and Afghanistan to negotiate so that stability can be established in Afghanistan without the US intervention," Heydari concluded.
