Destabilizing Oman Sea is not good excuse against Iran: MP

Tehran (IP) – The spokesman for the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission called the recent events in the Oman Sea and the Persian Gulf the conspiracy of Western countries against Iran.

Iran PressIran News: Referring to the recent events in the Oman Sea and the Persian Gulf and the conspiracy of Western countries to attribute it to Iran, Mahmoud Abbaszadeh-Meshkini said: "Some trans-regional powers have long carried out sabotage operations to increase Iranophobia in order to justify their presence and military bases in the region."

Noting that Iran has not been the starter of any war throughout history and has only seriously defended itself in any field, he called on the neighboring countries to cooperate in ensuring the region's security.

He underlined that the Strait of Hormuz is one of Iran's security zones and stressed that: "If the enemies want to attack the interests of the Islamic Republic, they will face a decisive response."

After the alleged attack on the Israeli-owned ship in the Oman Sea near the territorial waters of Oman, the Israeli regime and their media reacted to the incident with unprecedented controversy and accused Iran.

Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh strongly condemned the baseless allegations against the Islamic Republic of Iran about the incident for the merchant vessel off the coast of Oman on July 29.
