Tehran (IP) - Iran Foreign Ministry spokesman strongly condemned the baseless allegations against the Islamic Republic of Iran about an incident for a merchant vessel off the coast of Oman on July. 29.

Iran PressIran news: Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh, in response to the statement of the G7 foreign ministers and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, added: "It is noteworthy that this incident took place just a few days before the inauguration of the new President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which is a manifestation of the democratic transfer of power in Iran."

Khatibzadeh emphasized: "Such baseless scenarios, which Zionist regime are often behind them, are designed to create chaos in the region, and unfortunately, it also brings followers who are immediately ready for unrealistic and unwise conclusions. In fact, for the experts and those familiar with the history of this region, the planning of such conspiracies by the Zionist regime at different times is not new."

The spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran is fully committed to securing the strategic waterway of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz and considers it a part of its security and is still ready to cooperate with regional countries in establishing and ensuring stability of collective security system in the region, and at the same time, we will not hesitate to defend our sovereign rights in this area."
