Iran Parliament speaker: Peace can be achieved through dialogue in Afghanistan

Tehran (IP) - In a meeting with the President of Afghanistan, Iran’s Parliament speaker stressed that peace can be achieved through dialogue of all political groups in Afghanistan.

Iran PressIran news: Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, who visited Tehran to attend the Presidential swearing-in ceremony, met with the Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Galibaf.

Referring to the deep ties between Iran-Afghanistan nations, Ghalibaf said: "Cultural and historical ties between the two countries have provided a good platform for developing and expanding bilateral relations in various political, economic and cultural fields."

Referring to recent developments in the region, Ghalibaf noted: "The policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is to establish peace and stability in the region."

Ghalibaf added: "The Islamic Republic of Iran supports any action to create lasting peace and security and prevent bloodshed in Afghanistan."

Iran’s Parliament speaker called the intervention of foreign forces in Afghanistan a cause of insecurity in the country, stressing: "As long as there are supra-regional powers, this issue will spread insecurity in the region.

President of Afghanistan, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, described the atmosphere of relations between the two countries as brotherly, expressing: "The long-standing commonalities between the two nations will strengthen the friendly relations between the two countries."

He added: "The Afghan nation will never forget the sympathy and assistance of the people and the government of Iran in different periods of crisis in Afghanistan, especially hosting Afghan immigrants by Iran."

The President of Afghanistan did not consider the continuation of the war as the solution to the current problem of Afghanistan, highlighting: "The killing and massacre of innocent people cannot make up for the backwardness of the past, and we must solve the current problems through dialogue and negotiation."
