Iran Press/ Iran news: "According to the announcement of the Japanese government, 1.1 million doses of the vaccine produced by this country have been delivered to Iran so far, and it is expected that in the next two days, 1.8 million doses of the Japanese AstraZeneca vaccine will be delivered to Iran," said Ikawa Kazutoshi, the Japanese ambassador to Tehran.
He added: "Tokyo wants to fight coronavirus, and this is a gift from Japan to the people of Iran."
Alireza Zali, the head of the headquarters to manage operations against coronavirus in Tehran, also said: “Japan has provided great assistance to Iran in the fight against coronavirus and some of the World Health Organization's shipments have arrived in Iran through Japan."
On Friday, 23 July, Iran received the first batch of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine at Imam Khomeini International Airport, with the Japanese envoy in Tehran, Aikawa Kazutoshi attending.
