Tehran (IP) - The most sensitive match of the 23rd week of Iran's Persian Gulf League competition was held today at 19:30 between Persepolis FC and Esteghlal F.C. football teams at Azadi Stadium in Tehran, as Persepolis won the potential game and reached the top of the league.

Iran PressIran news: Issa Alekasir scored Persepolis' only goal of the match in the 55th minute to claim his first goal and break the three-game tie in the derby.

Persepolis gained 45 points with this victory and reached the top of the table due to a better goal difference than Sepahan FC.

Esteghlal FC lost third place with 34 points and fell to fifth place in the  Persian Gulf League standings.

Moreover, Yahya Golmohammadi achieved his first victory after four consecutive draws in the derby as head coach for Persepolis, while Farhad Majidi suffered his first defeat.
