Chad's army announced on Monday that more than 300 insurgents had been killed in the center of the country.

Iran PressAfrica: Chad's armed forces in a statement said that more than 300 insurgents were killed in the latest clashes between the country's forces and insurgents in the Kanem province in central Chad on Saturday.

Chad military says five government soldiers were also killed as it put down an armed rebellion in the country’s northwest.

Meanwhile, tribal clashes in the Salamat region in southern Chad, which began last week, have left 100 dead so far.

The National Committee for the Protection of Human Rights in Chad has called on the government to declare a state of emergency in the Salamat region.

The committee also called for the disarmament of residents in the area. 219
