FM Zarif urges finalizing preferential tariff agreement with Indonesia

Jakarta (IP) - In a meeting with his Indonesian counterpart, the Iranian foreign minister stressed the need to speed up the finalization of the preferential tariff agreement and announced Iran's readiness to continue negotiations in this regard.

Iran press/ Asia: Mohammad-Javad Zarif met Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi on Monday morning.

Referring to the seventy years of friendly relations between the two countries, Zarif praised the principled positions of Indonesia in the Security Council for maintaining the JCPOA and implementing Resolution 2231.

Zarif expressed satisfaction with the increase in the volume of trade relations and stressed the need to speed up the finalization of the preferential tariff agreement, and announced Iran's readiness to continue negotiations in this regard.

Marsudi also praised the friendly trend of the growing relations between the two countries and expressed hope that the two sides would facilitate trade relations by using a joint trade commission and negotiating agreements.

Supporting international law and exchanging views on the latest developments in Afghanistan's peace process were other topics discussed during the meeting.

Mohammad-Javad Zarif left for Jakarta on Sunday to develop bilateral relations and diplomacy during Ramadan.
