Vienna (IP): The Permanent Representative of Russia to International Organizations in Vienna said that the US current plan is removing just inconsistent sanctions against Iran, but Tehran's consistent willingness in a new round of JCPOA talks is to remove all US sanctions at once.

Iran PressEurope: In an interview with Pars Today, Mikhail Ulyanov said: "Due to the withdrawal of the United States from the JCPOA, Iran did not accept direct talks with the US representative.

In response to the question of whether the United States is ready to lift all sanctions at once, Ulyanov also said: "This will be clear shortly. At the same time, Iran itself has distanced from the JCPOA in the past two years due to its remedial measures and needs time, at least technically, to return to the implementation of the agreement," he added.

"What is clear is that Iran wants all sanctions to be lifted at once, but in the current situation, the Americans are only willing to lift sanctions that are inconsistent with the JCPOA."

Regarding the mediation of one of the participants in the JCPOA meeting between Iran and the United States, he said: "Since the Iranians are unwilling to meet face to face with the Americans, the EU representative has taken on the role of liaison, between the parties."

He added: "For our part, we had a meeting with Abbas Araghchi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, to better convey the views of the Iranians to the other side, but we try not to disturb European mediatory diplomacy; in general."

Russia's representative said: "We all in a unique situation, all European parties want to revive the JCPOA, but at the same time, Iran wants all sanctions to be lifted at once and gain economic benefits from the JCPOA. At this stage, the priority is to develop a roadmap to coordinate all the steps needed to revive the JCPOA, which is not easy."

According to Mikhail Ulyanov, this requires a lot of consultation and coordination because just saying "all sanctions will be lifted, or commitments will be resumed" does not work, and these actions must be practically verifiable. This is to be done by two working groups within the JCPOA Joint Monitoring Commission.
