Rome (IP) - Hundreds of Alitalia employees gathered in front of the Italian Ministry of Economic Development in Rome to protest the uncertain future of the airline and the dismissal of half of its employees.

Iran PressEurope: The rally, initiated by the Uiltrasporti, Filt Cgil and Fit Cisl labor unions on Tuesday evening, stressed the need to maintain and develop Alitalia Airlines.

Airlines in Italy are among the sectors that have gone bankrupt or are going bankrupt one after another in the past year.

The management of Alitalia, Italy's largest airline, which is on the verge of bankruptcy, has announced that it intends to lay off 6,000 employees.
