Tehran (IP) - The spokesman for Iran's National Headquarters for Coronavirus Control reported President's suggestion on importing coronavirus vaccine through private sections as a complementary way to meet the country's need.

Iran PressIran news: Attending a press conference on Saturday, Alireza Raisi enumerated ways of supplying COVID-19 vaccines, including through domestic production, producer countries, COVAX, and private sections.

Raisi called the worldwide distribution of Covid-19 Vaccine unfair, 70% of which belonged to 10 countries.

He also expressed his complaint about the delay in delivering vaccines from countries like India, which was supposed to give 500,000 vaccines to Iran. Still, it delivered only 125,000 dozes due to the spread of coronavirus in India.

"COVAX was also supposed to deliver 4.2 million Astrazenca vaccine to the country, which decreased to 3.2 and then 1.2, which has yet not been met ", he added.

Pointing out Iran’s Health Minister's constant follow-ups to purchasing and local production of Coronavirus vaccine, the spokesman expressed hope that the target group (medical staff, elderlies and, people with special diseases) could be vaccinated entirely in the next 10 months.
