Cruel sanctions on Iran will not get US anywhere: Envoy

Washington (IP) – Iran’s envoy to the United Nations said that the United States’ cruel sanctions against Iranians will not get the US anywhere, noting that although the Biden administration admitted that Trump's maximum pressure policy failed, yet the policy is still in place.

Iran Press/America: In a tweet on Wednesday, Iran's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Majid Takht Ravanchi stated: "The US claims the 'ball is in Iran's court'; but two months into its new admin, the US is STILL in violation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 2231."

"Biden administration admitted that Trump's maximum pressure policy failed, yet that policy is STILL in place. Cruel sanctions on Iran’s people won't get the US anywhere," the message read.

The remarks came after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said: "The path to diplomacy is open concerning Iran and claimed that the ball is in Iran’s court when it comes to reviving the 2015 Iran Nuclear Deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)."
