MFA spox: Crew members of detained Korean ship are free

Tehran (IP) - Iran's foreign ministry spokesman said that the detained Korean ship crew members in Iran could leave the country today.

Iran Press/Iran News: Speaking in a press conference on Wednesday in Bandar Abbas, Saeed Khatibzadeh stated: "The South Korean ambassador was informed about the case, and of today, the crew members can leave Iran if they wish."

The spokesman said: "With the judiciary's decision, the crew of the detained Korean ship can leave Iran freely."

Regarding the Hormuz peace initiative, he said: "This plan is based on local mechanisms of regional security, and is designed to facilitate inter-regional talks."

Khatibzadeh added: “The details of the initiative were submitted to the countries of the region, but some of them did not cooperate in this regard.”

Yesterday, the spokesman of Iran's Foreign Ministry said that the crew of the South Korean ship in a humanitarian movement by the Islamic Republic of Iran received permission to leave the country.
