Tehran (IP)- The head of Iran's Food and Drug Administration says that the organization stands as the country's highest pharmaceutical authority with 10 years on receiving the World Health Organization's license on vaccine production.

Iran PressIran News: Mohammad Reza Shanesaz, head of the Food and Drug Administration, said about the latest situation of Russian vaccine imports: "The Food and Drug Administration, as the highest national authority, got the vaccine approval license 10 years ago than the WHO, which means if the vaccine is approved in our country, it will be allowed to be used in other countries."

Shanesaz has said that the rumors that are being raised with the headlines that the Food and Drug Administration of Iran is not able to approve vaccines are completely irrelevant, noting: "Because some are commenting in a field that is not in their field of work; the FDA's priority is to produce vaccines, and the country's plan is not to import a vaccine that is not used in the country of origin, and I deny any news on this issue."

He said: "Normally, the vaccine has 4 stages of clinical studies. The Russian vaccine has passed three human tests and has received emergency use licenses from 15 countries. In addition to Russia, it has received countries such as Brazil, Argentina, and some European countries."
