Tehran (IP) - The total number of people infected with the coronavirus in Iran has reached 1,348,316, and the total death toll has reached 57,000, the Health Ministry said.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking at a daily press conference on Wednesday, Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said the number of people tested positive for COVID-19 across the country has risen to 1,348,316 after detecting 6,182 new cases since yesterday.

Of the new cases detected over the past 24 hours, 840 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,214 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions, Lari noted.

The death toll from COVID-19 in Iran reached 57,057, she said, noting that the disease has taken the lives of 84 patients over the past 24 hours.

At least 1,137,812 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman said.

Lari also noted that more than 8,688,732 coronavirus diagnostic tests had been carried out in Iran so far.

According to the latest data, 10 cities are regarded as red zones, 23 cities as orange, 163 cities as yellow, and 252 cities as blue zones. 

The 10 red cities of the country are in Mazandaran province, including Amol, Babol, Tonekabon, Joibar, Ramsar, Sari, Savadkuh, Fereydunkenar, Ghaemshahr, and Neka.
