FDA head:

Tehran (IP) - Head of Iran's Food and Drug Administration stated that though facing sanctions and challenges by the COVID-19, Iran from the onset of the disease was able to produce 150,000 masks per day.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking on the sidelines of his presser held at the Health Ministry on Jan 4th, 2021, Mohammad Reza Shanehsaz said that Iran's medicine import has drastically dropped in 2018 by 30 percent, in 2019 by 22 percent, and right now by less than 15 percent.

He added: "This indicates the country's successful achievements after the Islamic Revolution."

Shanehsaz underscored that right now the country's masks production had reached to 35 million, elaborating that the masks equipped with melt-blown filter are of high quality, and international standards have been taken into consideration for making them.

"To realize the slogan of the Persian year, 'Surge in Production', anti-coronavirus medicines have been developed in Iran, and they are ready for export," Shanehsaz stated.

With a high capacity to produce masks, Iran has managed to meet the needs and is capable of exporting the masks. Private sectors' support has also gotten melt-blown material to reach 10 tons. The country is also capable of producing ventilators and Oxygen-making machines.

"Approximately 2 million various types of insulins have entered the market this week, and Food and Drug Administration is going to remove any related problems in producing and providing them," Shanesaz noted. 

Stressing that how Iranians have turned sanctions into an opportunity, Shanehsaz stressed that Iran's medical sector had been acted successfully, adding: "One of the manufacturers of the coronavirus vaccine inside the country have reached the human trials and its clinical study has begun. Other manufacturers are also trying to enter human trials. We prefer to follow the information on the vaccine given by the Minister of Health."

He said: "We do not have a problem with providing foreign currency through the banks, and we hope to see no shortage of the coronavirus vaccines and other medications in Iran."

Melt-blowing is a conventional fabrication method of Micro-Nano fibers where a polymer melt is extruded through small nozzles surrounded by high speed blowing gas. The randomly deposited fibers form a non-woven sheet product are applicable for filtration, sorbents, apparels, and drug delivery systems.
