A ceremony marking the first martyrdom anniversary of Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani and his companions was held at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tajikistan on Saturday.

Iran PressAsia: The ceremony was attended by the ambassador, members of the embassy and a group of Iranians living in Tajikistan in the Saadi Hall of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Dushanbe.

The Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Tajikistan "Mohammad Taghi Saberi" said at the ceremony: "If it were not for the death and bravery of Lt. Gen. Soleimani in the fight against terrorism and extremism, we would now be witnessing the spread of this ominous and dangerous phenomenon throughout the region and different parts of the world."

Explaining some of the irreplaceable actions of Lt. Gen. Soleimani and his companions in the three areas  including Saddam's imposed war against Iran, the fight against miscreants and also the fight against takfiri and terrorist groups in the region, Saberi stated: “Thanks to the blood of this great martyr, the enemy's fear of dear Iran has increased and, God willing, the forces of the American terrorist regime will leave the region.”

The Iranian ambassador to Tajikistan stressed: “The path of Lt. Gen. Soleimani will continue, and the preservation of the legacy of resistance and opposition to the system of global domination and arrogance will be lasting and eternal.”

Lt. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, Commander of the IRGC's Quds Force, and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, Deputy Head of the Iraqi People's Mobilization Unit (PMU), along with eight others, were martyred on January 3, 2020, in an airstrike by US forces and terrorists near Baghdad airport in Iraq. 219
