Tehran (IP) - Iran's President called the COVID-19 pandemic the historic test for the nations of the world and their leaders.

Iran Press/Iran News: Hassan Rouhani's words came as he was speaking on Saturday at a meeting of the National Task Force Against Coronavirus.

Iran's president said the third wave of COVID-19 was contained faster than others had predicted, and except for four cities, most of the cities are in yellow and orange zones.

Hassan Rouhani stated that coronavirus was not a normal disease or epidemic but a pandemic that spread almost all over the world. It was also a historic test for nations and leaders. Some countries, when the epidemic broke out, only thought about economic issues and said that they would not allow economic restrictions at all, but in the end, their people and economy were afflicted.

He noted that at the beginning of the pandemic and before being afflicted, some countries mocked the afflicted countries and ridiculed the methods of confrontation with the virus, but after a short time, they were afflicted.

Some countries thought that by creating restrictions and strict quarantine conditions, they could control the virus quickly, but then they saw that it did not work. They could not implement the long quarantine conditions, and the virus became active again, Rouhani pointed.

He added that some world leaders ridiculed health protocols. People who cooperated more and had more trust in their leaders, and whose leaders cared about the disease were more successful.

"In Iran, we had success during this period, both in the first and second waves and recently in the third wave. We were able to control the third wave faster than others had predicted with the cooperation of all the organs that came on the scene," Rouhani highlighted.

"Except for four cities, most of the cities are in yellow and orange zones, and we are facing favorable conditions," he concluded.
