Tehran (IP) - The closing ceremony of the Asian Student Chess Championship 2020 was held online this morning with virtual presence of Son Yeon, Treasurer of the Asian Universities Federation.

Iran Press/Iran News: According to Iran Press News Agency, the ceremony, which was held at the Iranian National University Sports Federation of Iran (INUSF), was attended by Hadi Bashirian, President of the Federation, and Shadi Paridar, Vice President of the Iranian Chess Federation and top Chess Players.

Officials from the Asian Confederation of University Sports and Chess also expressed their views online at the event.

At the beginning of the closing ceremony of the Asian Students Chess Championship, Son Yeon, Treasurer of the Asian Universities Federation (AUSF), said in a speech that was made online: "We are happy to be able to witness the holding of the Asian Student Chess Championship hosted by Iran amid special circumstances where competitions were not held in 2020 due to the outbreak of COVID-19.

In the Asian Student Chess Tournament, Khalil Mousavi from Iran won the gold medal in the individual section. The Iranian student boys team consisted of Khalil Mousavi, Mersad Khodashenas, Bardia Veisi, and Sasan Ali Babaei in Asia's runner-up position.

In the girls' section, the Iranian girls' team also won a bronze medal with the combination of Vesal Hamedinia, Kiana Arab, Niki Nadernia, and Kimia Ghazi Sharif.
