Iran Press/ Iran News: Saeid Namaki in a virtual meeting with the Ministers of Health of World Health Organization (WHO) Eastern Mediterranean Region, said: "Although it is difficult for us to lose even one citizen in any region of the world, I am glad that in the last one or two weeks, the number of daily deaths of COVID-19 patients in Iran has dropped from about 500 to fewer than 300, and we are 40% of the daily deaths of these patients."
Namaki highlighted that the COVID-19 pandemic has spread throughout the world and has taught many lessons to be learned nationally, regionally, and globally.
"It shows the unpreparedness of the international community to deal with an epidemic," the Iranian Health Minister said.
"In the past two weeks, we have started a national initiative called the project of Martyr Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani based on early identification of patients, active health services, and the use of up-to-date technologies," Namaki stated.
“I'm proud that none of our health services have been affected by COVID-19, despite all the restrictions due to illegal and unilateral sanctions and financial constraints,” Namaki noted.
On Thursday, the spokeswoman for Iran's Ministry of Health, Sima Sadat Lari, announced that 1,083,023 people in the country had been infected with the coronavirus 778,160 of the total infected patients recovered.
She added that in the past 24 hours, 284 COVID-19 patients had lost their lives, bringing the total death toll to 51,496, which shows a daily reduction in the number of fatalities.
