World's coronavirus cases pass 69 million

AS of today (Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2020) over 69 million coronavirus cases have been reported and over 1.5 million people have died of COVID-19 worldwide.

Iran PressEurope: According to the data from 'The Worldometer', so far, 69,057,626 people worldwide have been infected with the coronavirus, and 1,572,005 people have died from it.

In contrast, 47,841,563 people have recovered from the disease and regained their health.

While India is still in the middle of the first wave, Europe has already started the second wave of infections, as the United-States, Japan, and South Korea are faced with the third wave! The search for a potential vaccine is escalating and some countries say they are ready to start human testing phases.

In France, according to the latest report from the health authorities as for the COVID-19 pandemic, about 2,324,216 cases have been reported including 14,595 in the past 24h.

Austria reports 2,932 new cases leading to a total of 311,002 cases and 54 deaths in 24h for a total of 4,056 deaths as of Wednesday, December 9. 

In the United-States, the new case toll still skyrockets with 219,175 infections reported in 24 hours. As of Wednesday, December 9, the country reports 15,592,829 cases.

While the whole world has been facing the unprecedented coronavirus health crisis for almost a year now, the curfew is extended in many countries.

In the meantime, after Pfizer and Serum Institute of India, Hyderabad-based Bharat Biotech has applied for an emergency use authorization for its investigational vaccine candidate, Covaxin, to the Indian regulator. The firm is conducting its Phase 3 trial, involving 26,000 participants.
