Envoy calls for UN decisive response over Fakhrizadeh's assassination

Geneva (IP) - Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN Office in Geneva, sent a letter to the High Commissioner for Human Rights, reminding her of the need for a decisive response from the UN human rights mechanisms to the assassination of Iran’s prominent scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.

Iran PressEurope: On Tuesday, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the UN Office in Geneva, Esmail Baghaei Hamaneh in this letter to Michel Bachelet, referring to the serious evidence that the Israeli regime was involved in this heinous act, described it as a "gross violation of international law, human rights, and all moral values" and warned of the dangerous consequences of belligerent state terrorism on the rule of law and warned of international peace and security.

Baghaei Hamaneh in this part of the letter by explaining the scientific and research services of Martyr Fakhrizadeh, including in the production of coronavirus kits and also the management of the COVID-19 vaccine production project in Iran, called his brutal assassination as a clear sign of malice of the assassins to prevent Iran from furth growth and development emphasizing that the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue its path of scientific growth despite all the pressures and shortcomings imposed.

He reminded the responsibility of human rights mechanisms, especially the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, for such actions, which are a real example of state terrorism and violation of the right to life of innocent human beings, all human rights, and moral standards.

 The envoy also called on the High Commissioner for Human Rights to condemn the act.

Two days ago, the UN report on arbitrary killings by Agnes Kalamard, in a series of tweets, described the assassination of Dr. Fakhrizadeh as a clear example of arbitrary murder and a clear violation of international law.

Martyr Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, a distinguished scientist in Iran's nuclear, was martyred in a terrorist attack in the Absard region of Tehran province on Friday evening.
