Hormozgan ( IP) - The navy of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran seized a foreign-flagged Panamanian vessel during fuel smuggling in the Persian Gulf.

Iran Press/Iran news: The vessel was carrying more than 300,000 liters of smuggled fuel.

This action of the Navy of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps has been carried out as part of fulfilling its duty in the azure waters of the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz.

The main task of the IRGC navy in the Persian Gulf and the strategic Strait of Hormuz is to protect Iran's national interests, establish security and combat maritime smuggling.

Under maritime law, including the 1982 Convention on the Law of the Sea, a ship can be stopped and inspected on the high seas to enforce international law in a case that a ship (civilian or non-civilian ship) does not comply with international maritime regulations.
