IP - The Iranian president, stressing Iran's strong support for the formation and strengthening of regional unions, said, "BRICS aims to counter and defeat the unilateralism of the United States and Western countries, which, without any justification and solely out of self-interest, threaten other nations."

Iran Press/Europe: Continuing his trip to Russia, Masoud Pezeshkian met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Thursday Oct. 24. Pezeshkian stated that Iran places a special emphasis on expanding relations with neighboring countries, adding that, "Armenia is a good friend and neighbor to the Islamic Republic of Iran."

He added that Iran strongly supports any initiative aimed at establishing and strengthening regional unions. He said, "what BRICS pursues is countering and defeating the authoritarianism and unilateralism of the US and Western countries, which, without any justification and merely out of self-interest and a policy of coercion, threaten and sanction other nations."

Pezeshkian Condemns Support for Israel

The president characterized the unwavering support of the United States and some Western countries for the Israeli regime's atrocities as unjustifiable. He said, "by supporting the regime's brutal actions, including attacks on hospitals, schools, and defenseless women and children, the United States and Western countries have enabled these crimes to continue and rendered international organizations ineffective."

Pezeshkian stated that the United States and European countries' unconditional defense of Israel's aggression would only fuel regional tensions. He said, "after the assassination of an official Iranian guest in Tehran by the Israeli regime, the Islamic Republic of Iran chose not to retaliate in order to achieve a ceasefire. However, this resulted in further Israeli audacity, demonstrating that Israel and its supporters have no regard for human rights or principles."

Armenia Prioritizes Iran Ties

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan highlighted the importance of Iran as a close neighbor and ally during the meeting. He emphasized Armenia's commitment to strengthening its relationship with Iran, regardless of the circumstances. Pashinyan stressed that deepening ties with Iran is a key priority for Armenia's regional strategy.

Pashinyan also highlighted Armenia's interest in boosting economic and trade ties with Iran and other regional partners, particularly in the energy sector.
