Tehran (IP)- Iran's Energy Minister, Reza Ardakanian, stated: "The issue of water in the shared catchments is an issue that can only be resolved with the cooperation of the countries located in the catchment area."

Iran PressIran News: Abdullah Abdullah arrived in Tehran on Sunday (October 18th) on a three-day visit to hold talks with senior Iranian officials led by a high-level political and economic delegation.

He has met with President Hassan Rouhani, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, Ali Shamkhani, the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), and Minister of Energy Reza Ardakanian.

In a meeting with Abdullah Abdullah, the Iranian Minister of Energy discussed water issues between them.

In response to IP's question on what solutions are to solve Iran-Afghanistan water problems, Reza Ardakanian said that regardless of which country is upstream or downstream in the catchment area, everyone can use the benefits and costs of divide fairly.

There are diverse cooperation fields between Iran and Afghanistan, and water issues and environmental protection certainly have their place, noted Iran's Energy Minister.

He highlighted that by Iran- Afghanistan relation development, issues will be solved surely, and solutions will be achieved, which is the benefit of both countries, Ardakanian said.

Abdullah Abdullah has previously traveled to Pakistan and India to build a regional consensus to support the peace process. Talking with the Taliban in Doha can permanently end the war.
