Tehran (IP)- The chairman of the Iran-Afghanistan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission and the chairman of the Supreme National Reconciliation Council of Afghanistan stressed the need to develop economic cooperation between Tehran and Kabul.

Iran PressIran news: Iranian Minister of Energy and Chairman of the Iran-Afghanistan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission Reza Ardakanian met Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman of the Supreme National Reconciliation Council of Afghanistan on Monday in Tehran.

Referring to the forthcoming sixth economic cooperation summit, Ardakanian presented a report on the state of cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan in various fields of energy, customs, and economic cooperation.

The chairman of the Supreme National Reconciliation Council of Afghanistan also stated in the meeting that good preparations have been made for holding the meeting of the Joint Commission for Economic Cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan in Kabul.

Abdullah Abdullah added that according to the needs of the Afghan people, there are many areas of cooperation between Tehran and Kabul that should be considered.

The chairman of the Supreme National Reconciliation Council of Afghanistan arrived in Tehran yesterday (Sunday) for a three-day trip to meet with high-ranking officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran on ways to expand bilateral relations, peace, and stability in Afghanistan.

Abdullah Abdullah had previously met Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.
