Tehran-Damascus talks to build housing in Syria

Syria called Iran to be involved in the construction of housing units and development projects in that country.

Iran PressMiddle East: During the meeting between Ebrahim Mahmoudzadeh, Deputy Minister of Defense, and Director-General of the Armed Forces Social Security Organization (SATA) and Syria's Minister of Public Works and Housing Suhail Abd al-Latif in Damascus on Monday, the two sides discussed the rapid construction of low-cost and economical housing units in Syria.

According to Mahmoudzadeh, Iran is ready to cooperate with Syria in the reconstruction and relying on new technologies with the highest quality, maximum speed, and lowest cost.

The Iranian Deputy Defense Minister also stressed the importance of supporting the government of Damascus and cooperating with the Syrian public and private sectors in the implementation of projects, adding that Iran's activities will begin within the city of Damascus and then expand to other provinces.

The Syrian Minister also said that the Iranian delegation is scheduled to hold technical talks with officials of the Real Estate Development and Investment Authority and the General Housing Corporation.

In late 2019, Iran and Syria signed a memorandum of understanding for civil development between the two countries, and an implementation plan was drawn up, but the outbreak of the coronavirus delayed the implementation of this agreement.      207/216
