Russia and China vetoed a draft resolution proposed by Bahrain, preventing the UN Security Council from adopting an anti-Iranian resolution on the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. The draft failed to pass with 11 votes in favor, 2 against, and 2 abstentions.

The United Nations Security Council rejected a Bahraini draft resolution on Tuesday evening in a special session to discuss the situation in the Strait of Hormuz. Russia and China, as the two permanent members of the Security Council, vetoed the resolution.

The resolution, which was presented by Bahrain and was known as an anti-Iranian draft, failed to pass the Security Council despite receiving 11 votes in favor, due to two votes against by Russia and China and two abstentions.

The Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most vital oil passages, has witnessed numerous tensions in recent months.
