Tehran (IP) - Iran’s Health Ministry Spokeswoman responded to the false statistics of UK-based media about the number of deaths due to COVID-19 disease in Iran.

Iran Press/Iran News: Sima Sadat Lari, said: "The Islamic Republic of Iran firmly follows the scientific path approved by the World Health Organization [to report Coronavirus patients and toll] and strongly suggest individuals and the media not enter into scientific discussions for political purposes."

"If we were looking for secrecy, as in many countries, including Europe, the first cases would be announced with a delay of weeks, or we would hide the second wave of the disease, as in some countries with political and often economic considerations," she reiterated.

“Referring to anonymous sources and ambiguity and by saying 'it seems', they try to create doubt,” she added.

Lari went on to say: “We suggest that the media that have reported these cases, refer to the dozens of reports of problems and death in the UK, especially in nursing homes that have been questioned by the British media, or statistics in some countries in the region that have not even reported 10% of deaths.”

“We follow the scientific path approved by the World Health Organization definitely, and ask that people and media do not enter political purposes into scientific discussions,” she added.
