FM SPOX to leave for Baku as Iran new ambassador to Azerbaijan

Tehran (IP) - The Spokesman of Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs will soon be acting as the new Iranian ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Iran PressIran News: Seyed Abbas Mousavi is scheduled to be introduced as the new Iranian ambassador to the Republic of Azerbaijan and will leave for Baku soon.

Javad Jahangirzadeh is the current Iranian ambassador to Baku.

Mousavi will visit the neighboring country at a time when Azerbaijan has recently witnessed important developments, especially in relation to the developments in Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia.

Last week, the spokesman for Iran's Ministry of Foreign Affairs paid a two-day visit to Ardabil province, where he met with a number of officials from the border province (adjacent to the Republic of Azerbaijan), including the governor and Friday prayer leader.

Mousavi who also traveled to East Azerbaijan on Thursday, in a meeting with officials of the province, calling the role of border provinces in developing relations with neighboring countries very important and fundamental, saying: "East Azerbaijan has a good position in Iran-Azerbaijan relations, but we must try to upgrade this position and be able to use the capacities of this province to develop economic and trade relations with the Republic of Azerbaijan."

Seyyed Abbas Mousavi who has been appointed as the new ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan by a decree is scheduled to serve as the Foreign Ministry Spokesman until September.   207/215
