Zabol (IP) - Hamoun Free Trade and Tourism Zone in the north of Sistan and Baluchestan province, southeastern Iran, covers an area of ??more than 300,000 hectares, including the Hamoun Wetland and the Helmand River.

Iran Press/Iran News: Hamoun region is so important due to the habitat of different animals, the possibility of raising fish, the existence of various birds, and also the use of reeds for weaving mats as one of the handicrafts of Sistan and Baluchestan province.

Hamoun Wetland is the third largest lake in Iran and the seventh-largest wetland in the world after the Caspian Sea and Lake Urmia.

Due to its location in the center of desert and semi-arid areas between Iran and Afghanistan, Hamoun Protected Area is the only habitat for migratory birds in southeastern Iran.

Khajeh Zabol mountain, which is 2,200 years old, located next to Hamoun Wetland, is located in the middle of the water like an island when it is flooded.

Khajeh Zabol mountain is one of the oldest and most ancient mountains of Iran and ancient artifacts related to different Parthian and Sassanid historical periods have been found in it.

The unique region of Hamoun is one of the important tourist attractions in Sistan and Baluchestan province, which is a symbol of rich Iranian culture, history, and civilization.
