Tehran (IP) - Head of Public Relations and Information Center of the Health Ministry announced that 171,789 people in the country have been infected with the coronavirus, and 134,349 infected people have recovered so far.

Iran PressIran News: Iran's Ministry of Health and Medical Education Spokesman Kianoush Jahanpour on Sunday, June 7 announced the latest data on the coronavirus in the country and the deaths caused by the pandemic.

He said, "According to the definitive laboratory findings and from yesterday to June 7 in the country, 2,364 new patients with COVID-19 were diagnosed across the country and the number of patients with this disease reached 171,789."

Jahanpour added that 648 of new patients were hospitalized.

"Fortunately, 134,349 patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals so far," Jahanpour added.

Health Ministry's Spokesman said: "In the past 24 hours, 72 COVID-19 patients have lost their lives and 8,291 in the country lost their lives as the result of the infection to the virus to the date."

He stated, "2,596 patients are in a critical condition at the moment."

So far, around 1,084,857 million COVID-19 diagnosis tests have been conducted in the country," the Health Ministry spokesman said.

The situation in the Southwestern Khuzestan province is still red alert, but the hospitalization of infected cases have been declining in recent weeks.

Hormozgan and Kurdistan provinces also are on alert, Jahanpour stated.

In the past 24 hours, the number of red zones in Khuzestan province has decreased from 16 to 9 cities.
