Tehran (IP) - It is unknown that when the virus will be contained in Iran since there is no vaccine and it is too soon to predict such a thing, Iran’s Deputy Health Minister said.

Iran Press/Iran News: Iraj Harirchi made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Iran Press on the sidelines of the Meeting of the National Scientific Committee for the Policy-Making of COVID-19  held on Tuesday in Tehran about when and how the virus will be completely contained in the  Islamic country.

“The disease is controlled either when an effective vaccine is produced and made available to the public to achieve a high level of immunity, or when most people become infected and achieve herd immunity in which new individuals become ill under controlled conditions,” Iran’s Deputy Health Minister said.

The official further advised the people to observe social distancing and personal hygiene.

He said: "Social distancing is necessary due to the fact that the identification of patients has increased, but it is difficult to isolate all the identified people. There are also many asymptomatic cases, and economic issues must be taken into account.”

Meeting of the National Scientific Committee for the Policy-Making of COVID-19 with the attendance of Iran's Health Minister Saeed Namaki and the Scientific Advisory Committee for Controlling and Combating COVID-19, comprising of various specialists and health officials of the country, was held on Tuesday in Tehran.
