Tehran (IP) - The Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said that the launch of the 'Noor' satellite on Wednesday makes IRGC play role in space, adding that achieving this goal means that Iran can achieve global significant success by relying on God Almighty and the talents inside the country in every field.

Iran Press/Iran News: Major General Hossein Salami after launching the first multi-purpose satellite of the Islamic Republic of Iran by the IRGC, which is also used for defense purposes, said: "The successful launch of this satellite has promoted new dimensions of the defense power of the Islamic Republic of Iran and, by the grace of God, the IRGC will play a role in space after today."

General Salami described the achievement of a strong defense force such as the IRGC in space technologies in order to achieve superior capabilities as a necessity, noting: "Today, the world's powerful armies do not have a comprehensive defense plan without being in space, and achieving this superior technology that expands our power into space and expands the realm of our abilities is a strategic achievement."

The first military satellite of the Islamic Republic of Iran was successfully put into the orbit by the IRGC.

'Noor', as the first military satellite of the Islamic Republic of Iran, launched on Wednesday morning and placed it into the orbit at an altitude of 425km.

The satellite launch was carried out on the anniversary of the establishment of the IRGC.

The late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran Imam Khomeini, in a decree to the Revolution Council on April 22, 1979, officially announced the establishment of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps.
