Twitter page of Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif

Tehran (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister reacted to US recent claims made against Iran by writing the phrase "yearly reminder" under the tweet he had posted about two years ago.

Iran PressIran News: "US Navy can’t seem to find its way around our waters. Perhaps because it hasn’t figured out its name: Persian Gulf, as it's been called for 2,000 years longer than the US has existed," Mohammad Javad Zarif had said in his tweet two years ago, which he retweeted on Thursday saying "yearly reminder".

"Or maybe it doesn't know what it's doing in our backyard, 7,000 miles from home," read the retweeted post. Yearly Reminder.

Zarif's reaction just came as the United States Central Command (CENTCOM)'s statement, which was released on Wednesday night, claimed that several Iranian military vessels had approached US warships in the Persian Gulf.

In the statement, CENTCOM used a fake name for the Persian Gulf, which is considered contrary to the international law, and described the scene of the event as north of the "Arabian Gulf".
