Tehran (IP) - Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani has said that US sanctions are Iran’s major challenge to stop the outbreak of the deadly Coronavirus.

Iran PressIran News: At a meeting of the Government's Economic Board's meeting, Hassan Rouhani said that everyone had to follow the health protocols that were announced by committees of the National Task Force for Fighting Coronavirus and it was recommended to stay at home.

President Rouhani announced that businesses would be closed in Tehran until mid-April to curb the spread of the new Coronavirus.

He called on all people to cooperate with the government and the Ministry of Health to fight against the deadly Coronavirus.

"Today, the whole world is in a state of crisis. Even countries with good economic conditions are struggling with the health system and people’s livelihoods," he said.

Iran's President went on to add: "Like other countries in the world, we are facing a problem to contain COVID-19, but our problem is twofold because we are in a situation of sanctions imposed by the US."

Iran’s President also announced that the government would pay a 12 percent loan, with a 24-month repayment period to businesses that were affected by the Coronavirus.

"The loan includes those whose employment has not been active and who have kept their workers so that they can gradually activate their enterprises," he said.

Rouhani concluded his remarks by saying: "The government has made good decisions to the best of its ability, and institutions and donors are helping to overcome the current situation."
