Chairman of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization Abuzar Ebrahimi Turkaman

Tehran (IP) - In a message to the world's religious leaders, Chairman of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization Abuzar Ebrahimi Turkaman said, "Unilateral coercive measures and US sanctions against the Iranian people are inhumane."

Iran Press/Iran news: The Chairman of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization wrote in his message to the world's religious leaders, "This pandemic (Coronavirus) has once again shown us that despite scientific advances, human beings are so helpless and needy that they may give up hatred, enmity, and war and make friendship."

"The current situation has shown us that concepts such as National Security have faded and the security of London and Rome is not separate from the security of Baghdad, Damascus, and Sanaa. As well as the well-being of the people in New York, Stockholm, and Tokyo, the health of residents of New Delhi, Beijing, and Tehran are inseparable," Abuzar Ebrahimi Turkaman added in his message.

"The pandemic showed us how much humanity's destiny is intertwined. But in this painful situation where all the people of the world are mobilized to fight this unprecedented crisis, the Iranian people are facing additional difficulties. For many years, the Iranians have been deprived of their right to access food and to medical equipment and essential medicines due to unilateral coercive measures by the United States," he stated.

"Despite the fact that the International Court of Justice has ruled that the re-imposition of sanctions against Iran should not include trade in humanitarian affairs, civilian air transport, and medicine, in the time when that the pandemic has occurred, illegal US sanctions not only has made it difficult to treat patients with the coronavirus but in a situation where humanity is facing a global catastrophe and needs public solidarity, US government is pushing other governments to abide by it," the message highlighted.

Elsewhere, the message stated, "If religious leaders today remain silent in the face of illegal US sanctions and unilateral violence, it will be too late tomorrow."
