Parliament to hold emergency session on US violation of Iraqi sovereignty

Baghdad (IP) - A member of the Iraqi parliament announced the decision of several MPs to collect signatures to hold an emergency meeting and take a firm stance on the US' violation of Iraqi sovereignty.

Iran Press/Middle East: Speaking on Friday, Jamal Fakher said, "Silence over past US aggression and lack of condemnation has made the US persistent in dictatorship and arrogance for some time. That is, after targeting the great commanders of resistance, now it is targeting PMU forces and Iraqi army bases.

"Keeping silence and taking a weak stance will keep the US moving forward and causing more damage," he said.

"The national duty of parliament is to seriously stand up and hold an emergency session to take a clear and comprehensive position on all national voices against US violations, and that is what we are collecting signatures to hold an emergency session and discussions," said Jamal Fakher.

The United States launched airstrikes against multiple locations of Iraqi PMU (Hashd al-Shaabi) forces, among the locations hit by was a position in Najaf and three other places south of the capital Baghdad.

The early Friday US airstrikes were carried out about 24 hours after at least 18 PMU forces were killed in air raids targeting an area southeast of the city of al-Bukamal in eastern Syria and near the border with Iraq.
