Tehran (IP) - Iranian Health Ministry official Minoo Mohraz has said that the country's researchers are trying to create treatments for COVID-19, the deadly disease caused by the novel Coronavirus, by plasma-derived therapy.

Iran PressIran news: "COVID-19 in Iran is at the pandemic stage, and it is estimated that at least 40 percent of people expected to be infected until the disease subsides but most will recover," Minoo Mohraz said.

Iran's Health Ministry official announced that researchers are developing a new Coronavirus serum derived from the blood plasma of people who have recovered from COVID-19.

"This project is underway in Iran as well as other countries and if successful, it may be approved and produced in our country in the near future," she said.

Three medications are now being used to treat patients infected with the virus-including Antimalarial, Aniflu, and anti-AIDS medications, all of which are exist in the country.

on March 5, Head of Baqiyatallah University of Medical Sciences Brigadier General Alireza Jalali said the medicine produced for Covid-19 patients in this university has received clinical trial authorization from the Food and Drug Organization of Iran to begin clinical studies.
