Iranian ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin

Moscow (IP) - Iran's ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali on Saturday held a meeting with some of the top-ranking officials of Russia to expand mutual ties.

Iran Press/Europe: Iran's ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali on Saturday held a meeting with the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister for Syrian affairs Sergei Vershinin. 

At the meeting, Iran's ambassador stressed the necessity of continuation of cooperation between Tehran and Moscow on issues of mutual interest as well as regional affairs, Iran Press reported.

Furthermore, the top diplomat in a meeting with the Russian ambassador to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Bakhtiar Hakimov, exchanged ideas on Iran's cooperation with SCO members, fighting against terrorism and extremism, fighting against unilateralism, economic cooperation as well as information security.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova in a meeting with Iran's Jalali also called for joint efforts to fight against threats posed by hostile media as well as fake news about Iran and Russia.

In return, Jalali referred to the formation of Iran, Russia media cooperation committee saying the strengthening of the foundation in fighting against fake news as well as having access to reliable sources of news is one of the best ways of fighting the common enemies.

Iran's ambassador also held a meeting with the Russian president's representative in Caspian Sea affairs.

Igor Bratchikov discussed bilateral cooperation and issues related to the Caspian Sea Littoral States.
